Learn Types

Humans are extremely individual in terms of their clothing, interests and personalities. it's no surprise that we all have our own style of learning as well. The way in which input is presented to us has tremendous influence on how well we are able to recall it later on.

The learning types have been generally categorized in four main types:

  • Visual Learner
  • Auditory Learner
  • Reading/Writing Learner
  • Kinesthetic Learner

Even though knowing your main type is very useful on its own, you should try implementing all learn types for the best results!

Visual Learner

Visual learners prefer symbolism and graphics, as well as pictures and videos.

  • Using different fonts and colors to emphasize or categorize certain points is also very useful.
  • They learn best when they make use of gestures and picturesque language combined with color coding and charts.

Reading/Writing Learner

Reading/Writing learners prefer text, so they learn best by reading and writing.

  • They depend a lot on handouts or textbooks, as well as definitions and lists.
  • These kinds of learners don't mind lengthy sentences, even in speeches.
  • Taking notes in class will be especially helpful.

Auditory Learner

Auditory learners prefer to hear information.

  • Asking questions is also essential for them, so it's important to attend classes regularly and engage in discussions.
  • They have the best chances of remembering something by explaining and describing the newly learned to others or listening to the lecture again.
  • Listening to relevant podcasts will also prove helpful.

Kinesthetic Learner

Kinesthetic learners prefer a practical approach to take in information.

  • They base their learning on experiences and real things.
  • Learning with models is particularly helpful for them.
  • In lectures, real-life examples as well as "recipes" help them apply theoretical concepts to the real world.
  • They learn best hands-on and through trial and error.
